It was Douglas Green’s ground-breaking realisation that the grapes from the Western Cape’s varied vineyards should be combined to express the best qualities and character tics of each region that lead to the development of his eponymous range of sought-after wines. As vintner, viticulturist and entrepreneur he paved the way for the creation of consistently original wines in his signature style. The first bottle of Douglas Green wine was produced in 1942.
Today we remain inspired by his extensive knowledge of the winelands and winemaking prowess. 70 year down the line we proudly remain at forefront of innovation and pay tribute to this leader of industry who had the courage to break away from the pack and challenge the norm. It is his pioneering spirit that lies at the heart of our winemaking philosophy and encourages us to push boundaries and question the status quo.
